Banu Hashim and Banu Umaiyya

Ibn Atheer in Tareekh-e Kaamil:

Abd Manaf had twin sons, Hashim and Abd ash-Shams…When Hashim (great grandfather of the Messenger of Allah) inherited the leadership and rule of his community from his father, Abd ash-Shams’s son, Umaiyya (great grandfather of Muawiya ibn Abu Sufyan) turned green with envy. This was the start of the enemity between Banu Hashim and Banu Umayya.

Ibn Abbas narrates that the Messenger of Allah said: “I was Nabi when Adam was still between body and spirit”.

Mas’udi in Tareekh-e Murawwij az-Zahab:

When Allah decided to create the world… He addressed Muhammad and said: You are My selected authority (over My creation) and you are the guardian of My Light and the treasures of guidance. Because of you, I will make earth a carpet, make water flow, raise heavens high and will implement reward and punishment and paradise and hell. And I will establish your Ahlul-Bayt for guidance and I will give them such knowledge that no complexity will create doubt for them and no hidden decrees will hinder them.

Qastalani, in Mawahib-ul-Laduniya:

Jabir ibn Abdullah narrates that once I asked the Messenger of Allah: “May I be your ransom, O Messenger of Allah. What was the first thing that Allah created?” And the Rasool replied: “The first thing that Allah created, O Jabir, was the light of your Nabi, created from Allah’s light.”
